We are writing with an important health advisory message for our patients and clients.
Leptospirosis is a potentially fatal disease that can affect pets and their human caregivers. The disease is spread by contact with infected urine and the leptospirosis bacteria can contaminate standing water for up to 6 months. Dogs do not need to have direct contact with an infected animal.
It has been recently diagnosed in people living in the Bronx and several dogs in the state of New Jersey. Cats appear to be naturally resistant. We can protect your dog against several different strains of Leptospirosis by vaccination.
Please call us if you have any questions, concerns or wish to make an appointment.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedules to read this.
Thanks again,
